One of my first self-initiated drawing challenges way back in 2021 was drawing sneakers on feet with only a Pentel Slicci Pen (I was big into Frannerd at the time and this was her drawing utensil of choice, LOL!) so this week feels like a bit of a throwback for me!

MONDAY MARCH 11

I hope you are ready to see a lot of people drawing in this post because I’ve officially started the #OneWeek100People drawing challenge!

I decided to start a fresh 12cmx12cm Talens Art Creations sketchbook specially for this week, and there’s a good chance that all I will draw are Boston Celtics players, although these took quite some time waiting for the fountain pen ink to dry before turning the page to do the next, and then again with the Inktense paints, so I might need to make some adjustments.

I’m already behind schedule, needing to do about 20 per day and only getting 9 in, but I’ll let tomorrow-me figure that one out 😂

TUESDAY MARCH 12

We did another raid train on Twitch this morning and I decided to use the time to draw some people - surprise surprise!

I opened up a folder of photos from our Sunset Disco summer party series from last year (starting up again in May, btw!) with photos of our “Twitch fam”, many of whom were watching and chatting in the chat during the stream!

It was really fun because they were guessing who I was drawing - and they were guessing correctly! Which means that I was able to achieve a level of likeness that I didn’t think I was capable of (👋🙇‍♀️)

And then I did this fun single-line drawing of my friend (and ART HANG PARTY! Music maestro) DJ Strobe as a, I’m going to guess, an 8 year old.

And then I tuned in to Sophie McPike’s Scribble Brigade for some non-people animation background drawing time.

I used my Pentel pocket brush pen over some pre-blobinated pages in my little sketchbook. I almost added in some other colours but I’m really glad I stuck to the simplicity of the black.

With this session I finished the sketchbook - yay! It’s filled with ART HANG PARTY! and Scribble Brigade sessions, so the eventual tour should be a good one.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 13

For my people today I turned to Pinterest and varied up my style and materials.

The first page is very much inspired by a

YouTube draw with me video she did the other day - they were fun!

Then I switched to some single line drawings, pencil, and then some combos.

THURSDAY MARCH 14

Yesterday I popped a post in my IG stories for people send me a photo they would like me to draw and I was sent a few!

Here’s Mark and his cousin being all cute and stuff on the beach:

And then it was time for ART HANG PARTY!

We were drawing Hairstyles Through the Ages, starting from Ancient Greece / Roman Empire all the way to today’s top hair trend (according to me, haha). Since I gathered 32 references and wanted to make sure we got through them all (I have a target number of people to draw, after all!) I set the timer at a generous 2 minutes and we powered through!

If you notice the little note on the handsome McMullet (1980’s) I found out from the chat that I hit 1000 subscribers on YouTube! I knew I was close, 997 last I looked, but it was so fun to find out live with everyone watching! I would not have gotten here without the support of the amazing ART HANG PARTY! Community! 🥰🤗💖✨

FRIDAY MARCH 15

Purl was looking pretty cozy laying on the dining table so I quickly grabbed my “people from life” sketchbook and captured her in it. I know this doesn’t count towards my 100 people but it needed to be done!

And then one of my nieces arrived for a weekend sleepover!

Yes apparently my brain is so confused by time that it thinks its the year 2027 🫨

She’s a BIG Melanie Martinez fan, like you don’t even understand, and she’s starting to get into Taylor Swift so she suggested I draw both of them for my challenge. Ok!

To finish up the challenge I opened back up our Twitch-Fam photo album and added two that I missed the other day (not that there aren’t still many more missing!) and then drew some random guy holding capybaras from Pinterest (Ray was like “who’s that guy supposed to be!?” Haha)

100/100! 🥳

When I count the photos of people in my post here I get 98, but when I counted in my sketchbook it’s 100! So I must have missed a photo somewhere. 🤷‍♀️ Just trust me, I completed the challenge!

I think this challenge came at the exact right time for me to participate, which made it seem almost too easy to do!

My plan was to fill this entire sketchbook in one week, but I’m only about half way. I meant to draw more full-spread height people, but ended up doubling up on many pages. Oh well! I’ll keep filling it with people I think!

Oh, and then we tried to follow a Bob Ross episode using gouache which was a total fail but funny to try nonetheless 😭

SATURDAY MARCH 16

After we were out exploring the city for a good chunk of the day, my niece and I sat down to do some drawing. She suggested we draw some of her favourite artist’s paintings, so she searched up Avery Palmer on Pinterest and we set to work.
