THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24 @ 7:00PM ET on YouTube
That’s right! We’re drawing 100 cats in 100 minutes!
One after the other after the other, I have it all set up so I don’t even have to touch anything. Just cat after cat after cat x 100!
We will get a few short breaks every 25, with a slightly longer break at the half way point. Be sure to get your hand stretched in before we start because it’s going to a little bit crazy!

This month I will be joined by special guest cohost
for a Free Draw Friendzy portrait drawing session! We’ll be looking for volunteers to be put in the spotlight so we can all draw each other, live!MONDAY OCTOBER 14
Kitchen Utensils for AHPtober. We are half way into October and I’m starting to default to single-line drawings, which honestly kinda feels like cheat but I know it’s not.
As I was waiting to log into
’s discord for a “sunset self portrait” hangout, I pulled up some public domain paintings to do a couple of quick portrait studies of Paul Gauguin pieces. Then it was time for Deb’s hangout. In these ones we all make a self portrait, trying to focus on the things that a camera doesn’t necessarily pick up. She calls them “sunset self portraits” because much like trying and failing to capture the beauty of a sunrise or sunset on a camera, our true beauty is also rarely captured. We are the sunset!
It’s always nice to hang out and chat about all the things. I decided to go for another acryl-gouache painting, using a photo I took the other day as my reference.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 15
I started batch-sewing some new art tool rolls, using a different patterns from Bookhou that has a little zipper pouch. I didn’t take any photos of the progress, but trust me they are looking pretty cute!
Figurine for AHPtober. It’s meant to be “ceramic figurine”, but I decided on an air-dry clay leopard I made last year. Close enough?

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 16
Mailbox for AHPtober. I meant to take a photo of our little mailbox to use as reference but forgot so I just drew this one from memory.
I pulled up the replay of Sophie McPike’s Scribble Brigade session (that happened in the middle of the night for me) and drew some loose florals along with her using paint sticks and black pencil. I definitely moved a lot faster with mine than she did with her’s.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 17
It was Build-A-Farm at ART HANG PARTY!
My piece for AHPtober - quite the challenge to fit everything into this little space.
And also a challenge to draw everything a bit bigger in a full spread after.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 19
I don’t know about anyone else, but whenever there is a quick change in barometric pressure (ie when we are blessed with 20°C days after hovering around the freezing mark) my head kind of explodes in a mess of migraine pain and fog. My migraine started just as AHP was ending on Thursday and is just finally starting to clear the last little bits of fog today.
So I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to make
’s Wild Horses zoom drawing session but I thought I’d give it a try, and I’m glad I did. It was just the chill art time I needed. No pressure, nothing crazy, just friendly conversation and painting horses. Perfect. We did start with some quick 3-minute warm ups, but they didn’t feel rushed at all.
Then we had 10 minutes for the rest of the references. I used the Gansai Tambi granulating watercolours, Holbein watercolours and Inktense pencils. I still haven’t found anything I like using better with the granulating colours, they just all play so nicely together.
And I used one of the horse references for the AHPtober “retro-futurism” prompt, mixed in with a Jetsons-inspired cowgirl in space:
After dinner my head was feeling much better so I got out the sewing machine and continued working on the tool rolls! I got one finished, and just have to do the final hemming on the rest.
I think I’m getting really close to a shop update now! Once these are done I might make some pencil cases and pouches with the rest of the canvas and then be ready to go!

SUNDAY OCTOBER 20
Collage for AHPtober
We might pack up our supplies and go sit in the park for the rest of the afternoon, it’s so nice out! (I can appreciate this now that the migraine is behind me)

I didn’t film anything new this week so I thought I would share this fun video of me making my own rainbow markers! I mentioned this during AHP so here it is for anyone interested
